SAE J2950 – 2012 Edition – Recommended Practices (RP) for Shipping Transport and Handling of Automotive-Type Battery System – Lithium Ion

This SAE RP provides a basis from which to determine the relevant regulations to consult when preparing a new battery system for shipment. It also provides recommendations that can be implemented during the development of the battery system to be used by qualified users to determine the transportability of a used battery system. The determination of whether the battery system is transportable or not with regard to current regulations is shared by the battery system OEM and the shipper.
