SAE AMS7440 – Revision D – Balls, Steel, Low-Chromium, High-Carbon, Hardened and Tempered

This specification has been declared “NONCURRENT” by the Aerospace Materials Division, SAE, as of September 1996. It is recommended, therefore, that this specification not be specified for new designs.

This specification covers balls made of a low-chromium, high-carbon steel. Primarily for bearing balls. The particular alloy to be chosen depends on the size of the ball and the manufacturer’s techniques
